What is Long-Term Disaster Recovery?
Long-term recovery is defined as the actions taken to return the community to a new sense of normal following a disaster. Repairing, replacing, or rebuilding property are examples of recovery. ABAG’s Regional Planning Committee has developed issue papers on eight of the nine issues identified by ABAG as critical to long-term recovery. The final issue is regional recovery coordination and governance. This issue will be addressed by ABAG’s Regional Disaster Resilience Initiative.
